The Senate yesterday confirmed Roy K. Altman to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida by a 66 to 33 vote. Altman is a 2007 graduate of Yale Law School and has been a partner with Podhurst Orseck in Miami since 2014, where he represented victims of the Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared over the Indian Ocean in 2014. Altman, at 36, is one the youngest judges confirmed to the federal bench. The confirmation comes one day after Sen. Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules to reduce the amount of time required to debate a federal judicial nomination from 30 hours to two hours.
