The Supreme Court said today that is was deadlocked in a case challenging President Obama’s immigration plan (United States v. Texas, No. 15-674). The 4-4 tie left in place a Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling blocking the plan, which by executive action would have allowed millions of immigrants who are the parents of citizens or lawful permanent residents to be spared from deportation and provided with work permits. In reaction to the ruling, President Obama said it was a reminder of Republicans refusal to consider Hon. Merrick B. Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
