President Obama yesterday renominated most of his judicial nominees who were not confirmed at the end of last year. The one notable exception is Hon. Robert Chatigny, nominated for the 2d Circuit Court of Appeals. Chatigny currently sits on the U.S. District Court in Connecticut and faced Republican opposition because of an ethics inquiry related to his involvement in a state capital case. A panel of federal judges cleared him of any wrongdoing, but Republican senators twice denied him a vote and returned his nomination to the President. Obama did resubmit four of the most controversial nominees, including Goodwin Liu and Louis Butler, Jr.
