The Senate confirmed Jane Branstetter Stranch to the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals yesterday. Her nomination, announced in August 2009, was the longest pending of President Obama’s nominees. Stranch replaces Hon. Martha Craig Daughtrey who took senior status in January 2009. Stranch is a graduate of Vanderbilt School of Law and has been in private practice in Nashville since 1978. Her practice focused on Labor and Employment law, specializing in ERISA work. Branch was also active in many civic organizations, including the Episcopal Church and the local YMCA.
